Meaning of Vishnustuti; a simple Sanskrit prayer to Vishnu ( devanagari with Enlgish transliteration, word by word meaning and translation)

शान्ताकारं भुजगशयनं पद्मनाभं सुरेशम् |
विश्वाधारं गगनसदृशं मेघवर्णं शुभाङ्गम् |
लक्ष्मीकान्तं कमलनयनं योगिभिर् ध्यानगम्यम्|
वन्दे विष्णुं भवभयहरं सर्वलोकैकनाथम् ||

shantAkAraM BhujagashayanaM padmanABham sureshaM
vishvAdhAraM gaganasadRushaM meghavarNaM shuBhAngaM
lakshmIkAntam kamalanayanaM yogibhirdhyAnagamyaM
vande vishnuM BhavaBhayaharaM sarvalokaikanAthaM


I pray( वन्दे) to Vishnu ( विष्णुं ), to the one who is personification of peace ( शान्ताकारं), to one who is reclining on the Anatanag serpent (भुजगशयनं),  to the one with the lotus arising from his navel(पद्मनाभं), to the one who is the leader of all the gods(सुरेशम्),to the one who supports the universe(विश्वाधारं), to the one who is like the sky(गगनसदृशं),  to the one whose every part is auspicious(शुभाङ्गम्) , to the one who is the consort of goddess Lakshmi(लक्ष्मीकान्तं), to the one whose eyes are veritable lotuses (कमलनयनं), to the one towards whom the seers focus their attention(योगिभिर् ध्यानगम्यम्), to the one who removes fear of fear of worldly existence (भवभयहरं)and to the one who is the sole lord of the Universe(सर्वलोकैकनाथम्).

Nine gems of the Sundarakanda: Praise to Hanuman when he slays Simhika the demon who emerges from the sea to stop him.

Hanuman leaps across the ocean to reach Lanka, unstoppable by any obstacle. Simhika a demoness arises from the ocean with the intent of devouring him. She immobilized his shadow and hindered his movement.  He greatly increased the size of his body prompting Simhika to open her mouth wide. When we think of the Hindu wedding ceremony, the image that comes to mind is one of endless smoke-laden torture of the bride and groom and the ennui of meeting with an infinite number of forgotten relatives and friends-of-friends. The only fun and meaningful aspect of the wedding appears to be the song and dance with the baraat and sangeet and the opportunity to dress up.
